New CSF Firewall

There was a lot of speculation about what would happen to the closing down of Configserver CSF Firewall on the 31st of August 2025.

This meant no more updates for CSF, one of the largest firewalls used on Linux servers.

  • The End of an Era (August 31, 2025): Way to the Web Ltd announced that ConfigServer.com would close permanently, marking the official retirement of CSF and all related commercial/free products.
  • This meant NZServers kept running the old firewall until an alternative was found.
  • In early 2026, a WHM-compatible fork was made available on GitHub.
  • NZServers has now updated the Firewall to the latest version, maintaining robust features such as LFD (Log Failure Daemon), which blocks failed login attempts.

Failed Login Attempts

If you forget your password, you only have so many attempts to get this right.
This includes Emails and cPanel logins.

  • After the 2nd attempt, do not keep trying as the LFD daemon will treat this is an attack and block your IP and lock you out of the server.
  • When this happens, you need to contact NZServers by:
Using an alternate email address, sending a text or using WhatsApp to send a message.
  • If this becomes problematic, we will ask you to use a service like noip.com, which enables us to whitelist your dynamic IP.
